Day 2 - The morning after the morning after...

"Hi, I wish you could join me here for the Chinese breakfast buffet."

On the menu you will find fried rice, fried noodles, congee, scrambled eggs, and a croissant.

Oh, and special breakfast dim sum.

Dave is in heaven... Not literally, just breakfast heaven.

"I don't care if Grace won't let me have rice. We're in China for pete's sake - Thats all they eat here."

"Oh, by the way, would you like rice with your Corn flakes?

Grace is missing her cats so she stopped to say hello to this one in front of the Hyundai Car dealership across from the hotel.

Seems like all the taxis are Hyundai Elantras and Sonatas. Everyone else drives Volkswagons and Citroeons

"Wait for me!"

We are half a hotel length from the hotel and Dad is already 2 blocks behind...

PS... it is HOT! (and he refuses to wear shorts because of his pearly white legs!) Posted by Picasa

Staying in Beijing

Outside the "female" residence (Grace & mom's room) we can see the many changes Beijing is making in preparation for the 2008 Olympics... building, building, building!
All the way into the city we saw new highways, new buildings, new airport runways, new terminals...
and in the restaurants & stores we heard the new changes... everyone is trying out their english.

From the "boys" residence at the front of the building you can see the weather for the day... smog or is that fog ? Whatever it is, it is getting thicker.

You can see the old part of the city across the street...I mean the 8 lane highway + 2 lane bicycle route.

6pm Beijing time

While mom crashes in the room...

Dad and Grace go out for a "snack".

Okay, Dad's idea of snack was a big dish of noodles (really good), a big dish of greens (really garlicky) and two small bowls of soup (thats all Grace really wanted to eat)

We took half the noodles & greens back to David who had to use two swizzle sticks to eat with (no chopsticks in the room). Posted by Picasa

11 hours later...

Tuesday morning Grace and Dave are just about to leave for the airport. We have just said goodbye to our animals and are on our way to meet Grace's mom's place. Her dad is driving us to the airport where we meet up with Dave's dad.

(Hey, Jeff - lock the door for me, I think I forgot... I'm sure I forgot something.)

Here we are at the Vancouver International Airport. Betty just finished taking a picture of me taking a picture of them. We just finished eating at a Dim-Sum / Sushi Restaurant at the Airport. It was great and the price wasn't all that bad. Hey, all you Dim-Sumers try this place at the airport it was excellent...

OK. Too much dim-sum may take its toll at high altitudes. Posted by Picasa
