Day 6 - Update

Well we hope our adoption day pictures satisfied your curiousity as it has for us. Actually it was more goosebumps and nerves for us leading up to the moment they handed our children to us. We actually wrote a whole blog yesterday afternoon but the blogger server went down and we lost all our thoughts and feelings of the moment - too bad! We are still pretty excited about the whole event. Oh, by the way this is Alicia Mei Ping Lai with grandma (she loves grandma!) She is a curious little monkey who will mimic any of my hand movements in front of her. Here she is drinking formula but later on the day she fought and fought but grandma won!


Grandpa is holding Olivia Mei An Lai. She has a very strong kick (my groin can attest to that! I am still recovering) She has been sleeping alot and not eating much at all because of a fever that she has had since Sunday. We are concerned of course and if it doesn't break by Tuesday morning we will take her to a doctor. The girls are outfitted in an original Xui Shui Silk dress. (Xui Shui is just a market - do you think we're made of money?) Olivia also has a little bruising all over her body probably due to her fighting her chair restraints at the orphanage during feeding time. The bruising didn't make sense to us until we had to feed her. Other than that she is a happy baby.

"Hi, I'm Ping Ping aka. Alicia. My new parents are really happy to have me and I want to show them my appreciation for adopting me by buying them a new car - Please send money... I will call you personally - Thank you!"

We almost didn't get custody of this little one because of a photo issue. When Alicia smiles here eyes squints up and her face becomes someone else! The State officials would not approve her papers because she didn't look like her adoption photo. Boy what a panic we had - I had to try to make her laugh but she just kept a straight face and basically looked at me like I was some idiot! One of the officers picked up the phone to immigration head quarters to get further instructions. I started to blow poofing sounds at her face further making me look like an idiot in front of the officials when all of a sudden she started to giggle. The female officer saw her face and laughed and said, "I see her now!" and so the other officer hung up the phone and stamped the adoption release papers. Boy, the things you have to do for your kids...

Olivia, loves to suck her fingers instead of being fed. We hope that her fever may only be related to her teething (two little pearly fangs from the top). If it is then maybe the fever will break soon.

Pray for our kids! Only a week and a bit and we will be home soon to show you the treasures from the Orient that we are bringing back!
